To preserve and increase the urban tree canopy on the private and public land of Knoxville and Knox County.
Through our Outreach Goals, we aim to grow a vibrant and healthy urban forest and community.
Trees Knoxville’s Canopies for Campuses program has worked with 14 schools with a total number of 138 trees planted by 398 volunteers and putting in 628 volunteer hours.
Tree Knoxville has held 4 Volunteer Forester 12 hour courses on tree maintenance and care training 100 Volunteer Foresters and 1 Graduate Volunteer Forester 12 hour course that yielded 27 certified graduates .
Over 2000 trees have been donated to over 400 Knox County families and 1000’s of trees have been distributed to Knox County citizens through the TN Environmental Council’s annual 250K event.
Trees Knoxville has help plant 112 street trees with funding from TN Division of Forestry Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program (TAEP) grants and an additional 54 street tree planted in cooperation with the City of Knoxville Urban Forestry Program. An additional 235 total trees have been planted in City & County parks
Trees Knoxville is partnering with Mabry Hazen House to clear out some invasive plants. There will be some work involved, but you will also learn what to look for and how to remove these plants that are choking our native plants out!
