Canopies for Campuses Application

Research shows that trees have a positive effect on student performance. Trees Knoxville wants to bring the benefits of trees to Knox County schools! We plant between November and March.

How it works…

You:

Get your principal’s approval to have trees planted on your campus.

Find out where your water spigots are located (and get permission to use them).

Have a general idea of where you want to plant your trees.

Recruit a team of tree-loving volunteers to plant and water—a two-year maintenance commitment ensures viability.

Submit application.

We:

Meet with you.

Design a tree planting plan for your school.

Request approval from KCS Maintenance Department.

Purchase the trees.

Organize the planting.

Bring more volunteers and shovels and tools.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

*Trees must be planted in areas where volunteers have access and permission to water the trees before and after school hours, as well as during breaks.

*Quantity of trees depends on tree species and availability, Trees Knoxville purchases and plants focusing on ‘right tree, right location’ principles.

*All final locations will have the approval of your Principal and KCS maintenance.
